It's Christmas time again. Last year we did something fun each day I tried to do do mostly free things and very low cost. If you want to see our activites from last year I have a post on my old blog at: http://tysonandtess.blogspot.com/2012/01/advent-fun.html . For those of you in Virginia the train show at Avlon Church is the first week in December this year. I am sad we won't be able to go. Also Greenbrier Church on Volvo Parkway does a Night in Bethelehm and it's a blast for the kids. This year that is on December 7th at 6 pm. Both of these events are FREE! If you are looking for some free Christmas fun check it out.
This year I wanted to incorperate scripture and the real meaning of Christmas in each day. Focus on the family had a advent scripture list available online. For simplisity ssake I just decided to follow along with that list. Advent usual starts the first Sunday of December. I like to do our activities starting on the 1st which this year is Saturday. We also started our advent scriputes a few days early becasue I wanted to end on Christmas Day. So we started our Scripture reading on Wednesday, November 28th.
Sawyer helped me make our reindeer clips for our advent calendar. I wanted it to be simple for him to take down and something we could use to decorate our little condo. He loves painting so the clothes pins were a big hit. On the outside of each envelope is our scripture for the day. Inside is a card with our activity for the day (and a little piece of candy).
I wanted to include Paul and Amanda in the Advent fun this year. I made them a advent calendar box. Same envelopes, scriptures, and Christmas activities listed. They will also get candy and a few little surprises as the days unfold. I LOVE this time of year.
