Advent Day 8: Macy's Pink Pig. There is a mall here in Atlanta that every year hosts a fundraiser for the children's health fund. It's a big pink pig train and it rides around a pink Christmas town inside a tent. We promised Sawyer we would take him for our advent activity on Saturday. On Saturday morning we had to work for a few hours but we promised Sawyer when we were done we could go ride the train. Well he was so good all morning and then he waited patiently in the car at the post office for 45 minutes. By the time we got to the mall there was a line that wrapped around forever...I tried to tell Sawyer we could come on another day when it wasn't so busy. He oh so sweetly reminded me "well nom you said we could ride TODAY". Yes I did say that...so we waited in the line for an hour and a half to ride the pig train. Luckily you were allowed to purchase up to 3 rides at a time and each ride went around twice. He was able to go around six times and he loved every minute of it. While waiting in line he made a little friend and they entertained each other and laughed. It ended up being a fun time but I learned a valuable lesson in making sure to be careful what I promise my 4yr old.
Our scripture for today....
Malachi 3:1-6
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Coming Messenger
“Behold, I send My messenger,
And he will prepare the way before Me.
And the Lord, whom you seek,
Will suddenly come to His temple,
Even the Messenger of the covenant,
In whom you delight.
Behold, He is coming,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
“But who can endure the day of His coming?
And who can stand when He appears?
For He is like a refiner’s fire
And like launderers’ soap.
He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver;
He will purify the sons of Levi,
And purge them as gold and silver,
That they may offer to the Lord
An offering in righteousness.
“Then the offering of Judah and Jerusalem
Will be pleasant to the Lord,
As in the days of old,
As in former years.
And I will come near you for judgment;
I will be a swift witness
Against sorcerers,
Against adulterers,
Against perjurers,
Against those who exploit wage earners and widows and orphans,
And against those who turn away an alien—
Because they do not fear Me,”
Says the Lord of hosts.
This is a tag on post because it happened on the same day. We found the Buckheads in Lenox Mall. They used to be all around the Buckhead area in ATL. (like the mermaids in Downtown Norfolk). One day we noticed they were missing. After we rode the pink pig on our way out of the mall we looked over and saw THE BUCKHEADS! Sawyer was so excited and he wanted to take a picture with each one. haha Here they are!
